REFERENCE/INSTRUCTION LIBRARIAN: The American University Library is seeking an innovative, energetic and service-oriented librarian to work in a collaborative, team oriented environment. Responsibilities: This position is primarily focused on providing information literacy instruction and support through our College Writing program. Additionally, the librarian will provide research and reference services to a diverse user population through the reference desk, chat, and during individual appointments with students and faculty. The Instruction/Reference Librarian will also participate in the larger information literacy instruction program, will create, update and maintain learning objects and will serve as a member of the library faculty. American University Library has a tiered information literacy plan. In the first year through our embedded partnerships with College Writing we introduce students to the baseline information literacy skills that they will need to succeed in any academic program. Also, American University Library strives to incorporate information literacy instruction into all levels of the university's curriculum. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. The Instruction/Reference Librarian is a member of the Division of Research, Teaching and Learning [RTL]. Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

INTERIM BUSINESS LIBRARIAN: The Interim Business Librarian will serve in a temporary capacity during a national search for a full time Business Librarian. The successful candidate would be eligible to apply for the full time Business Librarian position. Responsibilities: As the Research and Instruction Librarian for Business, the librarian will be the point person for research assistance, information literacy instruction and collection development in support of the curriculum and the faculty research at the Kogod School of Business, as well as business-related research across campus. The librarian will work closely with the faculty and administration of the Kogod School of Business to ensure that the University Library is able to meet their research and pedagogical needs and to increase awareness of library resources. In collection development, the Business Librarian: ¿ Reviews and selects research materials (print and digital) to support faculty and student research for Kogod. Provides high-level subject specific reference assistance to Kogod faculty and students, as well as basic research assistance to all students and faculty. Teaches subject specific instruction sessions and participates in the baseline information literacy instruction for all students. Creates appropriate online tools to support Kogod students and faculty. Supports interdisciplinary initiatives across academic units that require expertise in business librarianship. Serves on the Library's Collections Management Team and participates in decisions that affect the overall research materials collection. Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Job Requirements:

Reference/Instruction Librarian: ALA accredited M.L.S. Experience in academic librarianship preferred.
Interim Business Librarian: ALA accredited M.L.S. Experience in academic librarianship and business librarianship preferred.
