InstitutionUniversity of Northern Iowa Job TitleInstruction and Liaison Librarian - Business Assistant/Associate Professor Job DescriptionThe University of Northern Iowa seeks a tenure-track Instruction and Liaison Librarian beginning January 2017. An ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science or international equivalent at the time of appointment is required. Pre-employment background checks are required. The Instruction and Liaison Librarian - Business will actively serve as liaison to College of Business Administration and other academic departments and/or programs. Teaching in the library instruction program is the primary responsibility of this position, which includes developing and leading one-shot library instruction sessions and participating in teaching credit courses offered by the library. The librarian also works with and advises UNI students, faculty, and staff on research projects through in-person consultations (scheduled or unscheduled), online chat, email, text, and phone. Other responsibilities include creating and maintaining online course guides, instructional media, and subject guides. This is a tenure-track position. Participation in library and institutional committees and professional associations is expected, as well as ongoing research, scholarship and/or creative work, and public professional service. Job DutiesTeach library or research instruction sessions for upper- and lower-level classes; also present informational sessions to departmental faculty and other groups. Participate in teaching the library's credit courses. Actively serve as liaison to academic programs or departments as assigned. Areas of liaison focus include teaching, research consultations, academic outreach, and scholarly communication. Consult with students, faculty, and staff about research projects, individually or in small groups. Create and maintain subject guides and course guides in various media. Work with faculty in integrating library resources into university's course management system. Provide subject-specific research and reference services in person and through email, phone, chat, phone, conferencing software, etc. Participate in appropriate professional associations. Serve on library, university, and professional committees. Engage in research, scholarship, and creative work. Reports to: Head, Liaison & Research.
