Candidate's Statement:
I am honored to stand for nomination for the position of Secretary/Treasurer for ALISE. I look forward to the opportunity to serve and build connections with the ALISE community. I joined ALISE in 2014 while completing my doctoral studies and working full-time as a special librarian. I have found the insights that I have gained through my involvement with ALISE to be relevant to my development as both an LIS researcher and a practitioner, including as a hiring manager and student supervisor. I consider professional service to be vital to professional growth and community building. I have volunteered in several capacities with ALISE including as a member of the ALISE 2020 program committee, the ALISE Horrocks Award Committee, ALISE Service Award Committee and as a judge of the ALISE/Jean Tague Sutcliffe Doctoral Student Research Poster Competition.

Additionally, I am a member of the Special Library Association’s Content Advisory Council and co- chair of the SLA Leadership and Management Development Community’s marketing section. I have also served as a member of the ALA Library Instruction Roundtable (LIRT) Adult Learners Committee and Awards Committee. I was also active in the Canadian Library Association, serving as both the Ottawa section co-chair and as the Secretary of the Canadian Association of Special Libraries and Information Services (CASLIS) division between 2008-2012.
