IFLA Call for Nominations

Biannually, association and institutional members of the International Federation of Library Associations and Organizations (IFLA) are invited to submit nominations for candidates to run for election to Section Standing Committees. The Association of Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) is an IFLA member and seeking qualified candidates to run for election to the following section standing committees for the period August 2013 to August 2017:

According to the IFLA Bylaws, ALISE is eligible to nominate one individual for each standing committee of the sections in which the Association holds membership. If we receive more than one name for a particular committee, the association board of directors will identify the most qualified candidate. Please note that if elected, the candidate will not represent ALISE on the committee. ALISE simply sponsors the candidate’s nomination.

Candidates must:

  • Have appropriate knowledge and experience to contribute to the work of the committee;
  • Plan to attend meetings of the standing committee and IFLA without cost to the IFLA and ALISE; and
  • Have a working knowledge of at least one IFLA language including English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian, and Spanish.

By January 16th, 2013, please send Kathleen Combs, ALISE Executive Director, the names of individuals and the standing committee for which they wish to be nominated. If more than one person is nominated for a particular committee, the ALISE board of directors will identify the most qualified candidate. Candidates do not represent ALISE if elected and are not designated as ALISE representatives. ALISE will work with these individuals to complete the necessary paperwork and file nominations by the due date.
