Candidate for President-Elect
Lorna Peterson
Candidate’s Statement:
ALISE states that “By 2010, ALISE will be the visionary organization in Library and Information Science education. The Association will be known for its unique purpose, build its strength and communicate that strength through vision, voice and visibility.” Building strength will require building membership which I will take on as a central task if elected. Membership strength and involvement should be as diverse as our field without hierarchy and snobbery. ALISE needs to affirm itself as an umbrella organization for those who research and teach in the areas of information and communication technologies, print culture, and of course, librarianship. I pledge to work within the strategic goals and plans of the organization to fulfill its mission and vision as we continue to involve the diverse research and teaching interests of the broad domain library and information science.
