The Graduate School of Library and Information Studies in the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island is hiring a Lecturer, beginning in Fall, 2016. This position is a full-time non-tenure track, academic year appointment through June 2017 with the possibility of renewal. There is a possibility this position will move from Lecturer to a tenure-track line in a future year, based on performance and budget.

Duties include teaching 12 credit hours per semester or the equivalent; developing and delivering courses in library and information studies, including interdisciplinary curriculum within the Harrington School of Communication and Media; advising students, and providing service to the university, the school, and the profession. Because of the potential to advance from this position, we expect candidates to demonstrate a strong potential to build a record of research leading to publication.

Required Qualifications include: 1) PhD in Library and Information Studies or equivalent doctoral degree by appointment date; 2) MLIS or equivalent professional degree; 3) Demonstrated Ability to teach at least 1 required core course in the GSLIS curriculum and elective courses; 4) Demonstrated Ability to teach one or more of the following: Reference, Academic Libraries; Digital Preservation; Special Libraries; Digital Media; 5) Demonstrated Ability to Work with Diverse Groups

Preferred Qualifications include: 1) Demonstrated professional work experience in Library and Information Services or related field; 2) Demonstrated ability to participate in interdisciplinary teaching and research; 3) Demonstrated experience in teaching online
