Information Organization Lecturer Position
 

The School of Information Studies (SOIS), the iSchool at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM), invites applications for a nine-month Teaching Academic Staff position in Information Organization. The selected applicant should be prepared to teach courses in both the School’s graduate and undergraduate programs, supervise fieldwork placements and internships, and participate in other professional services. Applicants should have a strong background in one or more of the following: metadata, information architecture, linked data, or cataloging. SOIS invites applications from candidates who have a strong background and interest in both information organization and information technology.

SOIS is committed to both onsite and online education; demonstrated ability in the design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats is highly desirable. Applicants must be able to teach the required undergraduate course “Organization of Knowledge” and in at least one other area in their field of expertise at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants should demonstrate the potential to serve in an advisory capacity and to work closely with students (onsite and online).

Required Qualifications:

  1. MLIS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
  2. Professional experience.
