Archives Teaching Academic Staff Position

The School of Information Studies (SOIS), the iSchool at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM), invites applications for a full-time twelve-month Teaching Academic Staff position in Archival Studies. The selected applicant should be prepared to teach courses in both the School’s graduate and undergraduate programs, supervise fieldwork placements, and participate in other professional services.  Applicants should have a strong background in archival or records management practice along with the ability to conceptualize and teach the field.  SOIS invites applications from all candidates but is particularly interested in candidates who can complement and/or supplement the archival studies program’s existing efforts in community and international engagement, outreach to distance students, and the breadth of traditional professional practice.

SOIS is committed to both onsite and online education; demonstrated ability in the design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats is highly desirable. Applicants must be able to teach the required course “Introduction to Modern Archives Administration” and in at least one other practice area.  Applicants should demonstrate the potential to serve in an advisory capacity and to work closely with students (onsite and online) to secure fieldwork positions.

Required Qualifications: 

1. 1.    MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.
2. 2.    Professional archival experience.
