Job Description: Tenure Track Assistant Professor in School Library and Information Science starting Spring 2013 (or earlier). Candidates must have an earned doctorate with primary emphasis in library science or related discipline and an MLS from an ALA or NCATE accredited program. School Library experience preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience teaching reading courses. Exceptional ABD candidates will receive consideration. A demonstrated record of research, scholarly publications, and grant writing or a clear potential for success in these areas is required. Major responsibilities include: 1) teaching graduate courses to be selected from young adult and children’s literature, reference, selection, cataloging, library technology, and administration; 2) scholarly activities emphasizing research and publication; 3) supervising graduate practicums in school libraries; 4) advising and supervising master’s and doctoral degree students; and 5) service to the university and to professional and local communities.
UH-Clear Lake, one of four independent universities that constitute the University of Houston System, is located in modern facilities adjacent to the NASA/Johnson Space Center midway between Houston and Galveston in the developing center of Bay Area Houston, Texas. UH-Clear Lake is an upper-division and graduate institution with an enrollment of approximately 8,000 and includes Schools of Education, Business, Human Sciences and Humanities, and Science and Computer Engineering.
