Job description The Graduate School of Education seeks a Chair who can strategically develop and lead the LIS Department and its diverse stakeholders into the future through a shared vision that maximizes the Department’s strategic strengths, resources and opportunities. The Chair will also be responsible for supporting the development of pre-tenured and tenured faculty. Successful applicants will have credentials commensurate with those of an Associate or Full Professor. A successful candidate - Doctorate in library and information science or a related discipline - Prior leadership and administrative experience with budgets and personnel - Experience in obtaining and managing external funding - Research agenda in information management with an emphasis in at least one of the following areas: - Information technology (e.g., data mining/visualization, information architecture) - Management/administration (e.g., business administration, organizational leadership) - Competitive intelligence - User-centered design - Information policy, law & ethics Preferred Qualifications Experience in multidisciplinary collaboration are preferred The University at Buffalo (UB) is a flagship institution in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and a member of the Association of American Universities. As part of the MLS, we also offer a Library Media Specialist concentration; In addition, we offer an MLS/JD (Law) Dual Major, MLS/MA (music) Dual Major and an Advanced Studies Certificate.
