The Department of Educational Leadership and Human Development at University of Central Missouri invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of library science. The successful candidate must have earned a doctorate in library science or a closely related field (ABD considered) and demonstrate evidence of effective teaching and scholarship with experience or expertise in K-12 librarianship. The position carries teaching, research, and service responsibilities. 

Courses are delivered online and lead to Missouri school library certification, a Master of Science in Library Science, and an Education Specialist Degree in School Library Leadership. Opportunities for teaching in the summer with additional compensation are available. The library science program is within the Department of Educational Leadership and Human Development and offers opportunities for collaborative interdisciplinary research and publication. The program’s focus is to prepare school leaders who promote the multiple literacies (print, media, technological, and scientific) that accompany 21st century librarianship. Our program is CAEP accredited and nationally recognized by the American Association of School Librarians, a division of the American Library Association. 

Location: The University of Central Missouri (www.ucmo.edu) is located in Warrensburg, Missouri, and is a comprehensive, regional university with an emphasis in teacher education and a state-wide mission in applied sciences and technologies. With easy access to Kansas City, it provides the opportunity to live and work in an urban, suburban, or rural setting.

Appointment: Tenure-track, nine-month appointment beginning August 2016.
