The Darden College of Education is inviting applications for the tenure track position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Library Science beginning July 25, 2016. The College seeks scholars interested in expanding the boundaries of ODU’s successful school library program.

Duties

Responsibilities include (1) teaching and developing graduate level, distance-education courses in librarianship and information literacy; (2) producing high quality research for publication in top-ranked journals; (3) conducting and seeking external funding to support scholarly activities; (4) advising and directing graduate and doctoral student coursework and research; and (5) participating in initiatives directed toward program growth and development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications are: (1) an earned doctorate in library/information science or related field by August 31, 2016; (2) ability to teach and develop the core library science coursework areas; and (3) strong potential or history of research and scholarly activities.

Preferred Qualifications are: (1) an MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program; (2) record of service and leadership in the library profession; (3) a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to work collaboratively; (4) experience with using technology effectively in online instruction; (5) a record of peer-reviewed publications and external grant applications.
