Institutional Members

Institutional Membership is accorded to schools with programs accredited by the American Library Association and to other U.S. and Canadian schools that offer a graduate degree in library and information science or cognate fields.

Institutional Membership does not include a complimentary personal membership to ALISE. To receive special personal member benefits and discounts (such as annual conference member pricing) one must be a personal member of ALISE.

International Affiliate Institutional Membership is granted upon application to any school outside the United States or Canada that offers a program to educate persons for the practice of librarianship or other information work at the professional level as defined or accepted in the country in which the school is located.

Institutional Members: Opportunities with ALISE

 

Membership Benefits:

  • On matters requiring an Institutional vote, each Institutional member is entitled to one vote. Institutional votes are distinct from Personal membership votes.
  • A subscription to the quarterly Journal of Education for Library and Information Science (non-member subscription is $170 per year domestic, $200 per year international).
  • Members only access on ALISE.org. Your membership includes admittance to the secure, searchable online membership directory, the ability to renew and pay online, and access to other members-only documents.
  • A complimentary copy of the Library and Information Science Education Statistical Report (responding institutions only) and a 10% discount on additional copies (non-member price is $150)*
  • Reduced fee for ALISE mailing list rental (members $150, non-members $300)
  • Free job postings on the ALISE web site (non-members $175 per three-month listing)
  • Formal and informal placement services at ALISE conferences, including electronic resumes of job candidates, interview space (gratis up to 6 hours), and informal networking to meet the job candidates.
  • Nominate your faculty for ALISE Awards for teaching excellence, professional contribution, service, and faculty innovation.
  • Have your school's interests and concerns represented through our affiliation with the American Library Association, American Society for Information Science, Medical Library Association, and Special Libraries Association among others nationally, and as an association member of the International Federation of Library Associations.
  • Membership in the Council of Program Chairs, Deans, and Directors which provides the forum to discuss issues, make reports and recommendations, and share information which is critical to the entire community.

*International Affiliates do not receive the free copy of the Statistical Report.
