Presenter Bios

Dr. Emily Knox Webinar Presenter Emily is an associate professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Emily is the newly appointed Program Director of the recently approved B.S. of Information Sciences at the iSchool. First-year student majors are anticipated for Fall 2020.
 Dr. Vedat Diker webinar presenter Vedat Diker has been teaching for two decades and directing academic programs in information-related fields for over a decade. Most recently, he has been the Director of the University of Maryland iSchool's B.Sc. in Information Science Program. His scholarly and teaching interests include data and process modeling, relational and graph database design and administration, data-driven web application design and development, feedback systems modeling and simulation. He holds a PhD in Information Science from SUNY Albany. 

 

Presentation Description: 

There is an increasing number of undergraduate programs in LIS departments and iSchools and these programs come with their own opportunities and complications. This webinar presents the experiences of two undergraduate program directors: one of an established and thriving program, the other of a program that was just approved by university administration. Attendees will hear about the best practices for developing and maintaining undergraduate degree programs in LIS.
