New!!!!  School Library Media SIG

The proposal for the formation of a School Library Media (SLM) Special Interest Group stated:

"In accordance with ALISE Bylaws (Section A, part III, article XII, ii) we the undersigned request the formation of a Special Interest Group (SIG) to focus on the issues of teaching school library media courses. We acknowledge the current existence of the Youth Services SIG and assert that the SLM SIG will complement rather than detract from that SIG. 

School library media issues overlap with those in the youth services area in that the population service focus is the same; that of K-12 age groups.  However, we feel that the issues discussed in school library media courses, specifically; formal instruction and curriculum, information literacy, collaboration, and technology, are sufficiently different from youth services in general to warrant the creation of a SIG in school library media."
