ALISE Social Issues Policy
At times, the ALISE Board is asked by members or other individuals or organizations to take a position on social issues. According to the bylaws of the Association, The Board of Directors … "shall have power and authority to manage the Association's property and to regulate and govern its affairs. The Board shall determine policies of the Association, and shall take such actions as it considers necessary to carry out the objectives of the Association." (Article III, Section 1). "[The Board] ... is responsive to members’ concerns and effectively communicates Board actions to the membership." (ALISE Board Orientation Document, December 22, 2007, page 1).
The ALISE Board, in deliberating social, political, and economic issues, should take action only when those issues meet the following criteria:
